About Us
The Cyprus Association of Friends of Fine Arts was established in 1998 as a non-profit organization aiming at the promotion of the fine arts in Cyprus and the cooperation of the artists of the two communities of Cyprus.
Activities
The Association organizes international sculpture workshops inviting and hosting known foreign artists to Cyprus and participating at international workshops abroad. It plans to extend its activities in other fine art sectors, such as in painting and ceramics.
Furthermore, the Association in cooperation with The International Association for Monumental Sculpture Events (ΑΙΕSM, http://www.aiesm.com/homepage-2-en.asp ) organizes Monumental Sculpture Symposia in various districts of Cyprus and participates at international symposia with Cypriot artists.
During these Symposia, the Association organizes discussions on the various art trends and the developments around monumental sculpture.
Multiuse Space – Gallery
The Association has created in an industrial building at Latvia Nicosia a modern space of approx. 250 sq.m, which serves as a multiuse space for the organization of exhibitions, theatrical plays, lectures and discussions, film projection and in general as a space for the development of fine arts.
In the multiuse space there the Association hosts a permanent sculpture exhibition.
International Sculpture Symposia in cooperation with the local governments
The Association organizes International Sculpture Symposia in cooperation with various local authorities and municipalities of Cyprus, with the participation of artists from various foreign countries with the aim of creating Sculpture Parks in public and municipal spaces in an effort to promote art education among the population at large and to improve the landscape of our towns and communities.
Until now, the Association has organized two International Symposia at the workshop maintained by the Association’s Art Director at Agia Varvara village. Certain of the best monumental sculptures created at these symposia embellish the Association’s multiuse space at Latsia, Nicosia. Two symposia have been organized in cooperation with the Polis Chrysohous Municipality, two with the Polemidia Municipality and one with the Nicosia municipality. The artifacts created during these symposia have been placed at various public parks and other public spaces. A number of monumental sculptures are hosted at the Sculpture Park of Geri Municipality.
In addition, six (6) international sculpture workshops with the participation of 24 sculptors from 16 countries have been organized in Cyprus and the created sculptures are exhibited at the Gallery at the Association’s Latsia Multiuse Space.
Art Fair
The Association organizes from time to time open space Art Fairs in theme parks with the participation of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot artists. These fairs promote painting, sculpture, ceramics, hagiography and mosaics. In the same context, it organizes Cinema Weeks during which films created by local directors are projected.

Ο Όμιλος Φίλων Καλών Τεχνών ιδρύθηκε το 1998 ως μη κερδοσκοπικός οργανισμός με στόχο την προώθηση των καλών τεχνών στην Κύπρο και τη συνεργασία μεταξύ των καλλιτεχνών των δύο κοινοτήτων.
Δραστηριότητες
Ο Όμιλος διοργανώνει διεθνή εργαστήρια γλυπτικής προσκαλώντας γνωστούς ξένους καλλιτέχνες στην Κύπρο και συμμετέχει σε διεθνή εργαστήρια στο εξωτερικό. Σκοπεύει να επεκτείνει τις δραστηριότητες του και σε άλλους τομείς των καλών τεχνών, όπως στη ζωγραφική και την κεραμική.
Ακόμη, ο Όμιλος σε συνεργασία με το διεθνή σύνδεσμο International Association for Monumental Sculpture Events (ΑΙΕSM, http://www.aiesm.com/homepage-2-en.asp ) διοργανώνει Συμπόσια Μνημειακής Γλυπτικής σε διάφορες περιοχές της Κύπρου και συμμετέχει σε διεθνή συμπόσια με Κύπριους καλλιτέχνες.
Στα πλαίσια των εργαστηρίων και των συμποσίων, ο Όμιλος διεξάγει συζητήσεις σχετικά με τις τάσεις και τις εξελίξεις στη μνημειακή γλυπτική.
Πολυχώρος – Γκαλερί
Ο Όμιλος έχει δημιουργήσει σε βιομηχανικό κτήριο στα Λατσιά Λευκωσίας αίθουσα πολλαπλών χρήσεων 250 περίπου τμ, που λειτουργεί ως πολυχώρος διοργάνωσης εκθέσεων, θεατρικών παραστάσεων, διαλέξεων και συζητήσεων, προβολής ντοκιμαντέρ και γενικά ως τόπος ανάπτυξης των καλών τεχνών.
Στον πολυχώρο λειτουργεί μόνιμη έκθεση γλυπτικής.
Διεθνή Συμπόσια Γλυπτικής σε συνεργασία με την τοπική αυτοδιοίκηση
Ο Όμιλος διοργανώνει Διεθνή Συμπόσια Γλυπτικής σε συνεργασία με τους Δήμους της Κύπρου, με τη συμμετοχή καλλιτεχνών από διάφορες χώρες με στόχο τη δημιουργία Πάρκων Γλυπτικής σε δημόσιους και δημοτικούς χώρους, σε μια προσπάθεια βελτίωσης της καλλιτεχνικής παιδείας του λαού και αισθητικής βελτίωσης των πόλεων και κοινοτήτων.
Μέχρι τώρα έχουν διοργανωθεί δύο Διεθνή Συμπόσια Γλυπτικής στο εργαστήρι που διατηρεί ο καλλιτεχνικός Διευθυντής του Ομίλου στην Αγία Βαρβάρα. Ορισμένα από τα έργα που φιλοτεχνήθηκαν κοσμούν τον Πολυχώρο του Ομίλου στα Λατσιά, Λευκωσίας. Έχουν ακόμη διοργανωθεί με μεγάλη επιτυχία δύο Διεθνή Συμπόσια Γλυπτικής σε συνεργασία με το Δήμο Πόλης Χρυσοχούς, δύο Συμπόσια με το Δήμο Πολεμιδιών, ένα με το Δήμο Μέσα Γειτονιάς και ένα με το Δήμο Λευκωσίας. Τα έργα που δημιουργήθηκαν στο πλαίσιο των πιο πάνω Συμποσίων Γλυπτικής έχουν τοποθετηθεί σε δημοτικά πάρκα, καθώς και σε άλλους δημόσιους χώρους. Τέλος, μνημειακά γλυπτά κοσμούν το πάρκο γλυπτικής στο Δήμο Γερίου.
Έξι διεθνή εργαστήρια γλυπτικής έχουν διοργανωθεί με τη συμμετοχή 24 καλλιτεχνών από 16 χώρες και τα έργα που φιλοτεχνήθηκαν εκτίθενται στην Γκαλερί στον Πολυχώρο του Ομίλου.
Art Fair
Ο Όμιλος διοργανώνει κατά καιρούς υπαίθριες καλλιτεχνικές φιέστες, AirFair, σε θεματικά πάρκα με τη συμμετοχή Ελληνοκύπριων και Τουρκοκύπριων καλλιτεχνών. Οι φιέστες αυτές προβάλλουν τη Ζωγραφική, τη Γλυπτική, την Κεραμική, την Αγιογραφία και τα Ψηφιδωτά. Στο ίδιο πλαίσιο διοργανώνεται Εβδομάδα Κινηματογράφου κατά την οποία προβάλλονται ταινίες Κύπριων σκηνοθετών.
