Art Festival at the International Sculpturing Park in Agia Varvara

The Art Fair was organised at the Ayia Varvara Sculpturing Park between 20 and 29 June 2008. The Fair had a strong bi-communal character, while thirty Greek- and Turkish-Cypriot artists were actively involved. Within the framework of the ten-day Art Fair there was a Cypriot Cinema Week, where fourteen movies and documentaries were shown, and exhibitions of painting, sculpturing, ceramics, hagiography, and mosaics. Furthermore, there were open debates between the artists that took part in the Fair and the audience, with regards to the development of cooperation between artists from the two communities, so that artistic creation is set to become a bridge of understanding and trust between Greek- and Turkish-Cypriots. There was also a taverna in the place where the Art Fair took place. More than five thousand people visited the Art Fair.
